Hoa Tay (Flower Hands) Southern Artists of the Vietnamese Diaspora
March 15 2025 - September 21st 2025
This will be an ongoing exhibit at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art which will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon with Hoa Tay (Flower Hands), an exhibition centering emerging and established Vietnamese-American artists working throughout the American South.

Books & Breakfast with Children's Author Minh Le

Meet picture book author Minh Lê for a book talk and signing, plus light breakfast of fruit and xôi, Vietnamese sweet sticky rice. Families will receive their own copy of Drawn Together.
Registration for Books & Breakfast is recommended to help us plan supplies.

Ecologies of Refuge: Stories of Vietnamese Diaspora in Louisiana
How do refugees make new homes in new settings and, in turn, transform their environments? How does our view of American literature change if we understand it through the lens of forced migration?
Nguyen will discuss Vietnamese diasporic histories of place, migration, and storytelling in Louisiana to explore these questions. This will be event #30.

Martin Luther King Day of Service
Join us on Monday January 20th for a community clean up day at the Vietnam Memorial on Basin St. in New Orleans. We’ll be painting, picking up trash, and doing general maintenance to clean up this area. This is event #29.

Vietnamese Iced Coffee Making Workshop!

Join us on Saturday, Nov. 16 alongside Slim Le at Robert E. Smith library in New Orleans for this family fun workshop. Event #28.

Join us at the Westwego Farmers Market Pavilion to paint and meet new community members! This is event #26.

Folk Life Day
Participants will explore and learn about Vietnamese Hot Pot and enjoy making bracelets! Join us at the Louisiana Childrens Museum on Oct. 12! This is event #27.

Mary Queen of Vietnam: Mid Autumn Festival!
Join us at Mary Queen of Vietnam in New Orleans East for the Mid-Autumn festival! This festival will have the best Vietnamese food, entertainment from local musicians, lion dances, youth performances and a big raffle! Please join us, you won’t want to miss this. This is event #28.

Paint and Sip
Join us at Mary Queen of Vietnam for the celebration of the Mid Autumn Festival! This is an all day event at the church so if you can’t make it to the Paint and Sip, please come and celebrate the harvest and lantern festival with the community. This is event #27.

The mission of the Vietnamese Food Cooking Class, as part of the 50th Year Fall of Saigon Planning Commission, is to celebrate Vietnamese culinary heritage, foster community connection, commemorate resilience, promote cultural exchange, empower through education, and support community engagement. Through our shared love of food and culture, we strive to create meaningful connections and promote understanding across communities. This initiative is supported by the New Orleans City Council Recreational and Culture Fund. The 50th Year Fall of Saigon Commenoration Planning Commission plans to host 50 events from now until 2025. This is event #5. This event is partially supported by the New Orleans City Council Culture and Arts Fund.
